Super interested in 3D printing for my kids, but need guidance please

Tinkercad is extremely easy and was designed for teaching young children cad. It's a little more limited than the alternatives, but in some ways that's a good thing. Everything else is considerably more difficult and more 'adult' in orientation. Tinkercad is also web based so it should be able to run on anything with a web browser. Blender is what you use for organic shapes, but it's a serious 3d modelling program with all that entails. Fusion360, Freecad, onshape, etc are what you use for mechanical functional parts, but those are even more serious business programs for engineering use. But yeah, I seriously suggest the Snapmaker U1 for your situation. Kids like multicolor prints, and the U1 is the best multicolor printer on the market. Normal multicolor printers you end up wasting almost as much filament as it took to make the print, the U1 doesn't because of its 4 heads. I'd only suggest something else if you're wanting to get into drones, automotive stuff, robotics, or guns - ie stuff where you need the capabilities that only high end engineering filaments like carbon fiber nylon can provide.

First 3D printer

as much as I love the U1... it can't print large parts in abs or asa or nylon or pc or pps or ppa or pet or pp or pha or pom... case in point its not enclosed. yes I know you can buy an enclosure for it. ~~either way neither the bed nor nozzle get hot enough for proper engineering polymers~~ you're on the right track with Qidi, I've got one of their machines and it's great, just more rough around the edges than something like bambu. it's reliable and capable, which is about all I need from it. assuming you don't need multicolour or multimaterial, Qidi is putting up some really good value so long as you can tolerate an inconsistent ui and some small qol hits

Elegoo Centauri Carbon or what 3d printer for around 300€?

Me neither. Just thought I'd mention it since I complained in the first post. The U1 has been excellent in regards to multicolor with almost no waste. I'm doing some experimenting to pretty much get rid of the prime tower as well to have even less waste. Mostly prints go well without it or with the "no sparse layers" setting, but for smaller figurines and such the tower is needed. Using PLA as support for PETG or TPU is also a game changer.
